When using "<style backcolor='"+$F{COLOR}+"'>"+$F{FIELD}+"</style>" Only the text backcolor is set, not the complete textfield backcolor.

I need that a txtfield has backcolor which comes from database. I tried setting Backcolor property of a txtfield to $F{color}. But iReports responds that $F{color} is not a valid color identifier. How to solve my problem?
