The Later iReports should create reports for the said server, if there is a later version of iReports, they should have a save as option to support previous servers, its quiet reasonable for users to update the client and the server still be on an older version, in many coorp servers, the support department may usually do a yearly update of the server, as any changes may effect 100s of users, and reports existing in the system, so tests etc need to be done before allowing it to be updated in the live environment. In the OS community, we are sually a bit more caring than this.
