I have read this over and over - have made the changes I believe it is indicating and have done much research on the net I still get an error. Here is why this is so important to me. job assignment Research: how to configure JasperServer to use a different jre/jdk find out if its possible and how for both v3 and v4 of jasper server. Every server we deploy (windows server) has glassfish on it, and every glassfish as the full jdk and jre bundled inside - d:javasdkjdk and d:javasdkjdkjre but neither are registered on the path or java_home variable. if there is a configuration file inside jasperServer that allows us to specify the path to the jre, we need to know what else that file might contain - i.e. is it machine specific? if it has machine name or ip in it, than we might be able to use localhost globally, but if it has settings specific to the machine, it might not work to copy from one server to another. Here is what I am finding and what I have tried: 1. tomcat is being installed part of jasperServer 2. it is therefore NOT installed as a service automatically 3. when our setup installs the service it installs under a different name then tomcat5 5. tomcatw will not execute because it looks to tomcat5 6. boss does not want to change name of service back to tomcat5 7.Her preferred solution: that we can create a file which will point to a different java_home as the one we install with glassFish is always the same - never updated/changed type of situation WHAT if have tried tried adding the set JAVA_HOME = D:javasdkjdk to the catalina.bat file (which I understand to be the startup file for tomcat5) This makes not difference in the startup I CAN NOT touch the system variables and I am not understanding if running the set java_home from command line at the time of install will have to be done every time the server is starting or if it will change any other applications using java_home I am attaching the config files involved. I have placed this at the top of each- below the intro remarks. rem set java_home variable set JAVA_HOME = D:javasdk set JRE_HOME = D:javasdkjdk It makes not difference - the jvm still is not being set. using mssql 2008 I have a stored procedure which i am using to build a report. I have had jasperServer installed on a system and the reports have been running fine. As of last week the connectino to the database is not happening therefor the reports just stall. I have it recognizing both installations however when I use the import and export commands for 3.7 - (which was installed with the bitnami) the cmd shows functioning correctly however nothing is actually imported - in fact there is nothing but a bare bones - nothing there installation of the server....no sure how to fix this.

will i need to unistall the jasper 4.0 that i have on my localhost before i unstall bitname

I need to have both 3.7 and 4.0 installed on my localhost machine so that I may work on an upgrade script....I have 4.0 installed - what do i need to change, alter or create to install 3.7 on my machine.....i already know i need to change port numbers....what about changing the services name? I have tried and tried but can not get both versions working at the same time

i was able to install 4.0 again and it seems to be working fine....any ideas please...I need to get 3.7 reinstalled so I can work on an upgrade script

I have had to reinstall ce 3.7 - however everytime I do the services will not stay registered....I did have 4.0 installed when I removed this version I had to go into the regedit to delete the software. When I click yes to start server it initially starts. Once I close out the browser page - the service disappears and the webserver is not started. The names do not display in the services panal. Has anyone ran into a problem where the server will not register or start correctly. I am using the newest version of java/jvm version 7 on a windows 64bit computer.

I upgraded my iReport to 4.1.1 - after recompiling a report - the report no longer works within out application - have there been class changes from 4.0. to 4.1.1 that would cause this, do I need to add additional classes to our application.... suggestions?

I have two data sources listed in my query - they are executing the same stored procedure but should be passing two different dates. issue when i pull a variable from the second datasource and place it in the column header - the rport will not compile - it gives me a variable not found error attaching both the report and the jrxml

Okay, I have the dataset added by using the create empty datasource - but what i really need is to use the same stored procedure that is used in the main report....is that possible - seems like everytime i try to add the stored procedure as the query it hangs up.

actually it does help quite a bit - the part that is confusing me is HOW do I set up the second dataset and use the params passed in the main dataset....is it possible to provide a couple screen shots with this....I know it is asking a lot but I am a bit above my comfort level here!
