  1. I need someone with very good java and JasperServer skills to customise the Acegi security flow, beans and classes in order to integrate JasperServer with an existing web application. This work could be done remotely in consultation with myself. Offering £40 per hour with an expected max of 10 hours on this task.
  2. I have several Jasper projects at customers ongoing at the moment and I am looking for good people to help as this part of the business is growing rapidly. If you think you have the technical and people skills then please get in touch. Initially offering day rate work but with the potential to go permanent in time. 3. I want to use an MDX report (not an anlysis view) to draw a pie chart of the number of each type of product sold in a particular depot and of a particular brand. The underlying Infobright DB fact table has 12 million rows. This is a very simple thing to ask and the MDX I thought was simple enough: SELECT NON EMPTY { [Measures].[Pcls] } ON COLUMNS, NON EMPTY { [Products].Members } ON ROWS FROM [Fact] WHERE ( [CollectionDEPOTIDs].[All CollectionDEPOTIDs].[0010] , [bRANDIDs].[All BRANDIDs].[2] ) But this generates several SQL queries into the DB each taking about 8 seconds, resulting in a 40 second response time for a query that if I write in SQL takes less than a 3 seconds to produce a resultset. So my question is what can I do to make the MDX more efficient in the SQL it generates ? Code:SELECT NON EMPTY { [Measures].[Pcls] } ON COLUMNS, NON EMPTY { [Products].Members } ON ROWSFROM [Fact]WHERE ( [CollectionDEPOTIDs].[All CollectionDEPOTIDs].[0010], [bRANDIDs].[All BRANDIDs].[2] )
  4. Ace. Thanks Giulio. I saw that you had the new version out and was not sure if it was covered in there. So I will make sure that I get a copy of that. Glen
  5. In the following thread http://jasperforge.org/plugins/espforum/view.php?group_id=83&forumid=101&topicid=15491 Lucian makes the comment that "since you have only one measure on the column axis, you can also simply use Data as the field mapping". This works fine. Although I had to use Data(0,?). Still makes things simpler. My question is : Is there an equivalent syntax for Rows i.e. if I only have one dimension on the row axis can I use Rows(?,0) or something similar ? And is any of this in a reference manual somewhere ?
  6. I am trying to produce a very simple report single pie chart report in Jasperserver 3.5 from an XMLA datasource using the default demo data and configuration. The trace below is a debug log file output - it shows: the MDX request; the SQL; the MDX result; the error message (Invalid field mapping "[Measures].[Number of Sales]") ; and the java stack trace. The MDX runs through fine and returns what looks to me like a valid resultset. But then I get an error about an invalid field mapping? The error refers to the first statement in the MDX query. However, I can see that element - [Measure].[Number of Sales] - in the resultset so it is certainly there. I can open the report in iReport 3.5.2 and run it perfectly from there. I would really appreciate some help on this one. _____________________________________________________ 19:58:00,509 DEBUG DefaultXmlaServlet,http-8080-Processor25:138 - XML/A request content <?xml 7. yeah - 3.5.0 did not have it if I recall
  8. wish I could help you but I am neck deep in the same garbage debugging exercise :-( i can only add sympathy - java error messages are rubbish (cr*@!p) when you are really trying to work with a product
  9. Use iReport netbeans 3.5.1, connect to the repository, browse to the file, right click, open in editor. Only way as far as I know I have asked -- and got no response
  10. Would it not work to create the report definition using an input parameter as the report datasource like you do for sub-reports. Then pass that as a parameter in the SOAP call ?
  11. Yeah - any idea how to get a developer to take a look for us ?
  12. There is already a CSV datasource so I don't need to write one for that. The trick is a custom datasource I think that allows a user to access local resources at runtime. Which I think will involve finding some jsp that provides a file browse control and adding that into DefaultParametersForm.jsp. Also not so simple because I cannot just pass the filename as a paramater to the report because the server will not be able to access that file. The input control has to upload the file into memeory and use it while running the main report.
  13. JasperServer does work through Liferay which provides authentication (and authorisation I believe) in a JSR168 portlet. Maybe using the jasperserver WAR would be a solution for you ? Otherwise, each report in the Jasperserver is accessed via a URL. You could probably hide all the URLs in your application and load them as part of your application. Or use JasperReports and just embed the reports. But I assume you want to use JasperServer for a particular reason (scheduling, dashboards perhaps). 14. I have built a report that uses a csv with a list of customer numbers as input. The report reads the csv into the main report and then retrieves customer details from a database and prints them in a subreport. All fine if I run this in iReport. The challenge I have is : 1. the report needs to run from the JasperServer (3.5) and 2. the csv is a file that will be on the users local machine (exact filename and directory will vary each time) So the idea is for the report on the JasperServer to have an input control which 1. allows the user to browse their local directory and select the right csv file 2. then read the contents of that file and use it as an input list into the main report Hopefully that use case is clear. I have spent a few days hunting through samples of custom input controls and datasources but I cannot find a suitable solution. Suggestions / Solutions much appreciated.
  15. This looks like a bug to me. My very simple MDX query included below. Unless there is something wrong with the query. Test case is very simple. On iReport 3.5.0: 1. create an OLAP data connection 2. in the report query designer set the language to MDX 3. type in any appropriate MDX query 4. The tree mapping tool in the right hand pane does not load anything I tried to see whether I could log this on Tracker but I see no way to do that. If someone can tell me how then I am happy to raise this issue. Code: Post Edited by Glen Bremner-Stokes at 04/02/09 10:22 Post Edited by Glen Bremner-Stokes at 04/02/09 10:26
  16. Giulio, I really appreciate you taking the time to respond. I had tried that as a workaround actually. I switched the active connection to an OLAP connection and also changed the Query Language to MDX. But I found that the mapping tree did not populate at all. That frame just stayed blank. Is there a trick to getting the tree to display ?
  17. Not sure if you mean at runtime or creation time. At creation time I would just copy and paste the XML.
  18. This just sounds like a path error. Try putting in the full path to the report. 'load object from location: ...' is trying to find Employee.jrxml in the current directory ie. the directory where you run your java code from I would imagine.
  19. If I understand your question then the solution is to click on the 'Report Query' icon. You have to be in the Designer tab and then it is the first icon after the word Preview. It looks like a database icon with a an arrow around it. Took me ages the first time too.
  20. I am trying to get an MDX or XMLA report to work in the new iReport Netbeans 3.5.0. I am running into a catch-22 If I set the active connection as an MDX connection then the query designer will not open and comes up with a message saying that the active connection has to be an XMLA connection If I set the active connection as an XMLA connection and then go into the query designer I can design a query but cannot map the fields so the report fields all show up as 'null' Anyone come across this - and got a solution ? Ultimately what I am trying to achieve is to build the report in iReport and the upload it to JasperServer. 21. If I want to write a custom component where do I find documentation and sample code ? Post Edited by Glen Bremner-Stokes at 03/27/09 15:03
  22. Here is my final jrxml of the master report if anyone is interested.
  23. How exactly do you 'create a connection parameter in the master report' ? I mean what does your parameter expression look like? I spent all day looking for an answer for this yesterday and this morning I found an answer on the JasperServer forums: http://jasperforge.org/plugins/espforum/view.php?group_id=112&forumid=102&topicid=41378 The resulting XML should look like this : Code: This puts the connectionExpression in the master report under the subreport section. I tried creating a parameter (using iReport 3.5.0) and putting the expression in there and then using that parameter under the 'Use Connection Expression'. But I ended up with syntax problems so I just put the expression straight into the subreport section. I also note that the post on the JasperServer forum says that this is possibly going to lead to pool resource problem because the connection is not managed by the server. And a request was logged in 2008 to add better capability into the JasperServer but this is not scheduled to happen. Post Edited by Glen Bremner-Stokes at 03/27/09 12:31
  24. I have uploaded a new schema to the repository and used it various analysis views. Now someone else wants to download the schema and use it. I cannot see any way of pulling down a schema from the jasperserver. This would be very useful otherwise you end up mailing various versions of the schema around and things get badly out of synch. Has anyone got a way of doing this - maybe through an API or something. Or am I missing a menu option somewhere ?
