The most probably problem is that you have not included the commons-collection jar file. Which version of jasper reports are you using ? If it is 2.0 , then use the commons-collection 2.0.jar file which contains the org/apache/commons/collections/ReferenceMap I had the same problem , and solved it by adding the above mentioned jar file to my lib folder.
