Italicizing text in the middle of text

Is it possible to have italics in the middle of a textField or textFieldExpression? Something like the <I></I> in HTML? I would like to have text displayed as normal and only when market to be in italics similar to an HTML tag? Is this possible? What is a good workaround if not?
