Subreport in summary section

OK - I am working on my first report and am struggling with putting a subreport in the summary section. I have two separate reports (main.jasper and summary.jasper). I am trying to put summary.jasper in the Summary section of main.jasper. I set up a Parameter with "C:\summary.jasper" as the expression and then added the subreport with that parameter name. When I right click and choose "Open subreport", the report does open so I know it's finding the file. But, when I run main.jasper, it's a blank grey box. There's nothing special about the summary report...just another basic report that needs to be printed at the end of the main report. Please advise. Thanks!
