n-Tier Model and Long Queries

I am looking for a Java Report Engine that can work within an n-Tier model, and DB queries via stored procs that can take up to 12 hours to complete.

 

We have a GUI client (1st tier) that would "kick off" a report to be run in another tier. The actual report engine would not even be on the client, they would only be viewing the PDF file directly when it is completed.

 

What I am wondering is if anyone has used JasperReports in this way?

 

Basically, where JasperReports is only used on server to generate a final report in whatever format.

 

Even more specifically has anyone used JasperReports with Stored Procs that can take half a day to run? If so how does JasperReports hold up?
