How to pass Chinese characters as value in input characters

I need to display 中国外汇交易中心（全国银行间同业拆借中心）type of characters in my input control value field. Chinese characters will be retrieved from a database table.

Currently Jasper server displays blank for such characters. Please let me know why it is not allowing Chinese characters as the validation.properties has the RegEx pattern like '^[\p{L}\p{M}]*$'

and # p{L} = allow letters any language.
