Ad Hoc charts sorting automatically

I've been trying to build a report in the ad hoc editor which has category values in a very specific order from one field called month- (FY15,FY16, Apr16......Feb17). The underlying view from the database has the values in the correct order when selected normally.

I build it up first in a crosstab, but every time I drag the month field over it automatically sorts by that field. When I select "Dont Sort"....it is still sorting it in the report query (the one you cant edit) by month. This results in the category being ordered as Apr16,Aug16,Dec-16,FY15,FY16,Feb-17,Jan17 and so on in A-Z order.

 

Is there any way to stop the sort happening?
