Suppose I am making a mostly static design which has a line between each field:

| Name: $P{Name} |

|--------------------------------|

| Address: $P{Address} |

|--------------------------------|

| Phone: $P{Phone} |

|--------------------------------|

 

Sometimes the address will be two lines, and sometimes the address will be three lines long. I need a way to dynamically position the elements below address to move up or down depending on how many lines the address field was. Is this possible with Jasper Reports?

 

Any help provided would be much appreciated as I've been working on this for hours!!

Generally I've found that making such a "complex" element as your Address into its own subreport works. Phone can reposition itself below the subreport element.
