Does page footers have fixed size?

Hi,

when I have a subreport in a page header, the page header band adjusts it's size to fit the report (i.e I can set the band height to 1 in the design and the report then readjusts it to fit the subreport.)

 

However, if I try the same in a page footer the subreport is not displayed. In the page footer the band must be large enough to fit the report in the design (using JasperAssistant) for it to be displayed. So, does page footers have fixed size?

 

This would mean that footers will always take up space, regardless of wether or not they are displaying any information?

Yes, page and column footers are always of fixed size.
