Watermark washout effect

Does anyone know how to achieve MicorSoft Words background watermark washout effect in JasperReport?

 

When I load a background img into the report background band, it did print out. But doesn't have the washout effect, looks like a stamp on the page.

If i were you, I would edit the background image in Photoshop or some other image editting software to make it as dark or light as you want. That's probably the easiest solution.
