Random strange characters on Exported PDF when Printed

Hi everyone,

we are using iReport 4.1 to design reports. Everything works fine in general except for random cases where the exported PDF files show strange random characters instead of the field values when printed.

The design is correct only the characters have no meaning.

I have searched for this issue but I have found nothing on it.

Hi, After doing some research seems that the problem is caused by Printers trying to interprete Postscript. So make sure to check "Print as Image" option if you`re experiencing the same problem.

PDF generation is sensitive to fonts and encoding of characters. If encoding and/or fonts are wrong then strange characters in exported PDF document can occur, or it can be blank a whole.

Yep, if there is invalid characterts appearing in your PDF, then you shoud firstlt check your font. As PDF document printing relies on a combination of Windows printer drivers (when printing from Windows applications), Ghostscript and a PDF viewer to deliver its output, you might have to experiment with the font settings for each of these components to see if this produces a better result.
