How to add a $ sign before a number.

Hi  i am trying the change the number format to the Money value . when i try to change the  field patter value to the currency its not displaying the value.

Is there a way that i could do it with some coding

like" $ #,##0.00"..  i tried this but throwing an error.

could some one look into this issue.

I am new to Jaspersoft and trying to build some reports.

is there a good material other than  ireport guide and videos ..

I iI figured it out that  we can use the symbols in the text fields and static text only with + operator and enclosing the text in double quotoes.

Hi - I haven't seen this problem before. The error message would help.

 

Forgive me if this suggestion is much too elementary, but check the field width. The field may not be wide enough to show the desired formatting. Make the field wider. You didn't mention if you tried running the report. Do you get a different result in design mode and preview mode?

Thanks for the reply..The reason why i am not able to change the value into currecy mode is  the , 

the value which is coming from database has a string value, when i changes that to the .bigdecimal then it started accepting the 

formation of the values..
