Syntax error neat $

Hi,

I'm getting the following error:    Caused by: org.postgresql.util.PSQLException: ERROR: syntax error at or near "$"

And it seems to be in one of these parameters (when I remove them it doesn’t come up):

 

     $X{IN ,(advancednote_person.watchingusers_userid::varchar),Watch_User)

     and $X{IN ,(advancednote.status::varchar),Note_Status)

I'm really new at Ireport, so there may be something obvious here, but does this parameter code look ok?  It seems this error message is ver Non-specific.  Thanks in advance for any help!
