creating subreports using JR

I'm developing a web application using apache+tomcat. I'm using JR as report generating tool with iReport as the visual editor. I use iReport for creating .jrxml files then i use JSPs for generating reports using it.

 

I've created two report templates template1 & template 2. I created a 3rd report template and placed the template1 as a sub report in page header of template3. I placed template2 in the detail section of template3. template1 & template2 work independently. But template3 which uses template1 and template2 doesn't seem to work. It compiles successfully. I get a excel sheet but it's blank.

 

Can anyone explain what i'm doiung wrong? How can generate reports using sub reports? Pls help.

I got thro' this problem. I didn't mention connection information for my sub report. In the subreport properties window, i specified 'Use Connection' from the drop down box. Now it's working.
