Jasper Server 3.7 support the new IReport?

Hello,

     If I use the new version of IReport (3.7.2) to create reports, will JasperServer Community Edition 3.7 continue to support it or do I have to stay with the IReport (3.7) that JasperServer installer came with?

Are the new features of IReports 3.7.2 supported in JasperServer Community Edition 3.7.0 ?

No, the features added after iReport 3.7.0 will not work in JasperServer 3.7.

You will only be able to use iReport with JS 3.7 by setting the iR compatibility level to 3.7.0.

There's a bug in the list component that 3.7.2 fixed but if I can't update JasperServer it's useless.

I'm surely not going to run these reports for them.  :)

If you're talking about CE, probably until the next release which is months away.

In the meantine, you can get the JR 3.7.0.1 (or 3.7.0) sources, merge the fix for the bug you mentioned and build a patched jar for JS.

 That kind of work is over my skill level.  :)  I'd be a happy camper if someone with more knowledge than myself could take a stab at doing that.

Which bug are you referring to exactly?

I had 3.7.0 for iReport and JS CE.  With that version there was a problem with the List component stopping at the bottom of the page it was created on.  If you had more data than would fit it just truncated at the bottom of the page.  Tracker ID is 4530.  When I upgraded iReport to 3.7.2 the problem went away but JS is still on 3.7.0 so it works in iReport but not on JS.

That bug has been fixed in JR 3.7.1, which might work in JS 3.7.0.  Replace the JasperReports jar in JS 3.7.0 and verify that reports are still working.

Hi -

I have a similar issue:  There is an error in crosstabs depending on the type of the bucket expression.  This was fixed in iReport 3.7.2

We want to upgrade JasperServer from 3.0.0 but cannot if this problem is present in JS3.0.0 (it is broken in iReport 3.0.0).

As for me, I replaced the 3.7.0 jasperreport jar in jasperserver with the 3.7.2 jasperreport jar from ireport without any problem till now. Since I can use the new "objects" like tables.

That would work up to a point, but for instance report units with external queries will fail.
