isForPrompting attribute

I'm running my reports via a servlet. Is it possible to somehow use the isForPrompting feature to get input from the user? I'm not sure how this attribute is used.

Hi,

 

This is a flag that was meant to allow you to

identify those report parameters for which you

want the users to specify a value at runtime.

It is the parent application who should make use

of those flags.

JasperReports only allows them to be stored in the

report design itself, but does not use them in any way.
