how to rid subreport element when it has no data

hi,

I have 4 subreports in the detail section of my report. Not all 4 subreports will have data at once. Is there a way I could set, say when subreport 1 is empty then move subreport 2 into 1's place? I need to get rid of the empty space that the subreport occupies when it has no data

Setting the property "when no data" of the subreports to "No pages" should do the trick...

actually that did not do the trick for me. that setting you stated was the default setting for reports (im creating reports using iReport). the space in the report which the subreport occupied became blank when it does not have data. what i was looking for was to fill that blank space with another component when the subreport is null.

is that possible?

Just set the attribute "RemoveLineWhenBlank" at the SubReport element in MasterReport and be sure that there is no other element at vertical axis that prevents the subreport element to free the unused space.
