Dumber HTML exporter?

prisoner

Recommended Posts

Is there a way to either get the default HTML exporter, or a different HTML exporter, to act dumber when it comes to the grid layout? I've read the FAQ and tips about making sure your grid cells line up - and quite honestly the precise layout isn't important to my needs and is just making report creation significantly more difficult. An easy way to export cells into a relatively simple table is exactly what I need.

What I'm looking for is an HTML exporter that does the following:

- Does not try to do rowspan or colspan

- Does not try to truncate text to fit in the cell, but lets the HTML table rules handle overfill and wrapping

- DOES allow for cell border lines and other styles

I've tried subclassing JRHtmlExporter, but there are large functions that would need partial rewrites to come close to what I want, and I can't help but think that its just the wrong approach.

Is there a non-grid HTML exporter? Does that even make sense?

Is this totally unreasonable?
