Using eitherJDBC or XML datasources in one report

Hi!

 

I am trying to create a report in iReport that can be filled using either JDBC or XML as a datasource. The idea is to fill the report through a java application and pass a Connection object or a JRXmlDataSource object to fillReport(). I want the report template to be such that it will be correctly filled independently of whether the JDBC or the XML file is the datasource.

 

Any ideas or thoughts on how this can be achieved?
