Access SubReport variable from MasterReport

I have a Master Report displaying customers, grouped by region.

 

The Sub Report displays orders(order_id, quantity, amount and total amount) for each customer.

 

Now In the Master Report, how can I display the sum of the order amount for each region? Is there anyway, the Master Report can get a handle to a variable in the Sub Report?
