Report instance - viewing a report

Hi,

New to Jasper Server.

As I understand, after report generation output is report instance object in the form of *.txt file which is configured to be stored in a local drive (eg:c:jasperserverReportInstances).

If application user wants to view the report then object stored in above location is picked up by jasper server then report can be viewed.

We have a new requirement -

report is already generated by third party application and instance is located somewhere. Using our application we should enable this report for viewing.

Question is -

1. What shoul1d be the format of the instance?

2.Is it possible to view the report instance stored in mainframe system through jasper server?
