Nick_Murphy
I am new to JasperReports and using iReport, and have been investigating the use of Crosstabs. I obtain my data via JDBC calls, and am looking to produce a summary of the large number of rows summed by a couple of attributes. However, if I select my query to define the fields, and then create the cross tab, it seems I have to place the Crosstab in the Summary band, and the result is the creation of a repot containing hundreds of blank pages followed finally by the required cross tab view. Is this because the query is retrieving the data ahead of the crosstab and is expecting to first display the data in the Detail band? Is there a way of producing a 1 page Crosstab summary, or do I actually need to produce the required record counts in the query itself?
lucianc
What you need to do is to set the detail band to 0. This way, no space will be consumed by the detail bands and the summary band will be printed on the first page. HTH,Lucian
jmurray
Just to be perfectly clear, what luciano said was to set the Detail band's height to zero
lucianc
Thanks for the correction, John, I missed a word.
Nick_Murphy
I finally figured that out late last night, but didn't remove the query as I wondered if there was possibly other solutions. It works fine for me now, many thanks for such a prompt response
