Column Footer

I am sure this is an issue in many reports, but I could not find a posting that addresses it.

 

I use a column footer band with "Print When Expression" to display it only on the first page. This works fine, except that on the second page the space allocated to column footer band is not released. Nothing is shown on the second page, which is correct, but the "vertical" space is still taken up.

 

Is there a setting I can use to release this space? In other words, band height for the column footer band should be zero on second and consecutive pages.

TextField properties --> common(tab) ==> there can select "remove line when blank".

 

This will work.

As far as I can tell Column Footer behaves differently from Group footers and the suggested setting will not release the vertical space.
