Element Properties box works intermittently

Changing Font size and Bold from the Element Properties box in the upper right is hit or miss as to whether the changes will take effect.

 

A number of times I am able to change the height of a text item using the Element Properties box, but when I then attempt to change a field right next to one I've just changed using the Element Properties box, the changes are not made effective. During those times I need to right-click on the item to bring up the Properties dialog box and make the changes there in order to make the changes take effect.

 

Is this a known problem, am I missing something, or should I report this in the Developers section?
