iReport v1.2.0 patterns display issue

Hi,

 

I am unable to create patterns for the fields display. I am reading the data from a XML datasource and would like to display certain fields values as a currency parameter but when I set the pattern in the text field dialog box I still do not get the currnecy display. Do I need to do anything specific to achieve the patterns? Please help.

What is the datatype of your field. The format pattern is ignored if the field's type is string, which is probably the case if you are using an XML datasource. You may cast your xml data to some other type in the field tab. Just set your field to a numeric data type and the pattern will be picked up correctly.
