Why combine is wrong??

Hi,

 

I have this expression in the text field:

"Name of Branch : " + ($F{NAME}==null)?("No Record"):($F{NAME})

 

I got error when it remains in one text field.

It said imcompatible type.

 

But when I spilt the above expression into two field, one holds "Name of Branch", one holds the remain expression, then the report goes well...

 

I just would like to ask the reason for that???
