Compilation Errors Due to Numeric "Group By"?

Using iReport 0.4.1, I established a JDBC connection to a MS SQL Server relational

database.

 

I attempted to create a new report using the

Report Wizard. When I got to step 3, I was

asked to choose a "group by" field. If I chose

any numeric field, I get errors when I go to

the compile step, e.g., "Cannot cast double to

string." I do not get errors if I choose a non-numeric

field, e.g., a string/varchar field.

 

What am I doing wrong?

Another bug, iReport assumes you are choosing a string value
