assign style dynamically depending on field data

there is very often the requirement to dynamically style report elements depending on specific data. change the font color of data fields to "red" if some condition is true (e.g. if it is a saturday or sunday, change font to red; if it is wednesday after 1pm, change font color to green; otherwise font color should be black).

I found the rather new report styles to be a good choice for defining central styles for report elements.

But is there a way to dynamically assign style classes to report elements depending on the data?

I guessed I could do it with a scriptlet but it seems that I to not have access to report elements but only variables and fields in scriptlets.

I guess this is a common requirement, but is there a proposed solution for that?

Just take a look at the "ConditionalStyles" that you can define with several expression and different style options ... I think it will do the formatting you want!
