swisssteve
Hi,I am evaluating JasperServer for inclusion in our software and was wondering if someone coud answer this question. Have searched the forum but without luck.I am using JasperServer and have a seperate Java application. What is not clear is how my client shall interface with JasperServer?I know there are web services and API's which I can use to start a report operation and I guess I can either pass in report parameters from the application. But what is not clear to me is 1. How do I get / show the requested report to the user in my Java application after it has run. 2. How does the user select a report format e.g. PDF, CSV etc. Basically I am not sure what I need from the client side. I was wndering if I needed JasperReports client side with a cnnectio to the Jasper Server but am not sure. Your help is appreciated
wobby
Hi,when you working with a java application and you need "just" the reporting function, use the JasperReports. http://jasperforge.org/plugins/project/project_home.php?group_id=102JasperReports is also a "part" of JapserServer. If you like to use the JapserServer for emailing, scheduling reports, I would use the webservice. Hope that helpsTobias
swood
If you pull down the JasperServer source, there is a JSP based sample application that shows you how to connect via web services, run reports (defining what output format you want) and displaying the content.
