How to send the report as an attachment

Hi,

 

I am able to generate the report and we are storing the generated report in db based on its time when it was generated as its name preceded by template name.

 

for example

ReportTemplate 09-08-2006 21:13:56 CST.PDF

 

I am showing all the reports generated using that template in a jsp page.And have kept generated by abc@email.com (which is basically the e-mail of the person who generated it) and have kept a <a href="mailTo"> option for that.

 

Now my doubt is how can i include the report that generated as an attachment.

 

i have <a href="mailto:abc@email.com?subject=ReportTemplate 09-08-2006 21:13:56 CST.PDF"> how to keep this as an attahcment.

take a look at the javamail api over at sun.

it allows you to send emails from java.

 

I use it to automatically email my reports from an oracle database.

 

you just pass in a few strings , and your attachment(report) as an object.

and thats all there is to it.
