Creating fields dynamically.. pls help

Hi all!!

 

I am designing a generic reporting app where I have a requirement to create fields on the fly.

 

i.e. I will only define the bands Column header,detail etc and the fields will be created dynamically after looking at the incoming data.

 

so if I want to display a column headers with 10 column heads then I will create 10 fields on the fly add it to the Column header band and then populate it with the 10 column header data.. same for detail..

 

So my app will be having two step process:

-- Report designing on the fly

-- Poluating data in the generated design..

 

Please suggest if we can create the graphical elements dynamically alongwith some useful pointers and code samples.
