JasperReports Server provides built-in support for many commonly used data sources, such as JDBC, JNDI, and JavaBeans, as described in the JasperReports Server Administrator Guide. In some cases, however, you may want to connect to a non-supported JasperReports data source or to a custom JasperReports data source you have created. To do this, you need to extend JasperReports Server by adding files to your configuration.
This chapter shows how to add support a JasperReports data source in your JasperReports Server installation. Your custom data source types show up in the New Data Source dialog, and users can create instances of your custom data source and use them to access data. In fact, the flat file data source types added in JasperReports Server 6.1 are implemented using the custom data source type framework.
| This chapter tells you how to support connections from JasperReports Server to an existing JasperReports Library data source. It does not tell you how to create a JasperReports Library data source. |
