    • Features: Ad Hoc, Cache, JasperReports Server Version: v6.2.1 Product: JasperReports® Server

    Question:

Why data from my database is not refreshed in the real time in AdHoc View Report?

    Answer:

This happens because of such feature as AdHoc Cache.

This feature is designed to decrease a number of interactions between JasperReports Server and your Database server, as the result, the report execution is increased but the report will utilize values from cache till the time when the cache is updated and get new values from your database.

Please, refer TIBCO JasperReports Server Administration Guide,  Chapter 8.4.6 Ad Hoc Cache Management. There you will find various solutions regarding this matter.

You may use one of the options below:

    • 8.4.6.3 Manually Clearing the Cache" or more complex
    • 8.4.6.5 Disabling the Ad Hoc Cache
    • 8.4.6.2 Configuring the Cache

The easiest way is "Disabling Ad Hoc Cache", however, it may cause performance issue. So, I suggest to have a look at all these three chapters.

You can download the aforementioned document from the page:

    http://community.jaspersoft.com/documentation?version=31621

    or read its online version:

    http://community.jaspersoft.com/documentation/tibco-jasperreports-server-administrator-guide/v621/configuring-ad-hoc

Please pay your attention to the fact that disabling AdHoc Cache to see a real data that comes from your database may impact a speed of your report execution and create excessive load related to the network exchange between your database and JasperReports Server.
