I've been getting prompts to install 6.0.4 since last week and have tried several times, with the same result each time. What is odd is that the splash screen shows version 6.0.4 but I am still on 5.6.2, as confirmed by opening installation details.

Hi,so you tried to upgrade from 5.6.2 to 6.0.4? Please confirm or detail. It appears that something went wrong when trying to get the feature for the bundled jre.Probably part of the bundles were correctly downloaded in the plugins/features folders. I think that's the reason you are seeing the splash for 6.0.4, even if the full rcp feature was not correctly updated.I will give it a try to upgrade a 5.6.2 to 6.0.4.Regards,Massimo.

    Hi,

I just tested into a Windows 7 64bit. It worked fine the first time I tried.

Can you please try again? Mid-end of last week we fixed a problem with update site, not sure it could have been the cause. Anyhow from your screenshots it appeared more like a network problem (read timeout error).

    Let me know.

    Regards,

    Massimo.

No issue verified even upgrading on Mac. Can you please attach you log file?

I will try to look into it, searching for some possible meaningful errors.

By the way, do you require any special network configuration? I mean are you behind proxy/firewall?

    Regards,

    Massimo.

Where can I find the log? When I first submitted this issue I checked the box to include the log file, so it should be in the attachment to the original issue.

No in the attached zip there were only screenshots + hardware details (that is the default preselected).

You can find the log via "About Jaspersoft Studio > Installation details > Configuration > View Error Log".

    Regards,

    Massimo.

I saw a bunch of these errors:

Please give it a try modify the Jaspersoft Studio.ini adding ECF timeout options as explained here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1489149/how-to-change-value-of-read-timeout-of-eclipses-update-manager

Massimo, I'm not sure if I made the correct update or not; the stackoverflow link provides a few suggestions but nothing is marked as the correct solution. I couldn't find an eclipse.ini file, as indicated in one of the responses. I located the JasperSoft config.ini and added these two lines to it:

    -Dorg.eclipse.ecf.provider.filetransfer.retrieve.closeTimeout=3000

    -Dorg.eclipse.ecf.provider.filetransfer.retrieve.readTimeout=3000

Tried the update but got the same error.

The original poster in the stackoverflow link mentioned having a slow internet connection, but I don't have that problem. Mine is regularly clocked at 120+ Mbps.

Revert the changes to the config.ini file.

Please locate the Jaspersoft Studio.ini file doing like this:

    - open Applications/TIBCO Jaspersoft Studio 6.0.4.final in finder

    - right click on Jaspersoft Studio.app

    - navigate Contents/MacOS and locate the .ini file

Last step perform the modifications to this one.

Unfortunately I'm out of options, I tried to look for the exception and I discovered this topic besides others that suggested to increase the timeout options.

Not sure if it will help, but it makes sense to give it a try.

    Regards,

    Massimo.

Thanks for your efforts, Massimo, but it still doesn't work. I'll just keep using my current version and ignore the upgrade notices, maybe until the next version is released.

I don't know why I didn't think of this before, but rather than apply the update I downloaded the dmg for version 6.0.4 and installed it. Problem solved! Though I'll probably keep the old version around for awhile to make certain there aren't any issues.

I give up. Now I've lost my ability to connect to our SQL Server database, even using the older version of JasperSoft. How could this happen? All I did was copy the new version folder to my applications folder and run it. My JDBC driver for SQL Server appears to be gone.

What you mean with the driver is gone?

Are you talking about Data Adapters? Or the jars you had in the classpath of a project?

About data adapters there were changes in the last versions: the information are now stored inside metadata folder of the workspace as files. But at the first startup this conversion is performed silently, reading the details from the properties of the older version.

    Regards,

    Massimo.

Apparently I had to close and restart the new version, or it was taking an inordinate amount of time to gather the information from the prior version, because it is working now, though I don't know why the data adapter disappeared from the old version. No matter, I deleted the old version and am using the new version.
