We can put an option in order to add or not this tag. I think right now this is missing in the Preferences.Regards,Massimo.

I don't mind the tag, The problem is that it's created by looking or previewing the report. it should ONLY be added when deliberately saving.

Well in this case, can you please verify if you have the option "Save report when switching to the Report Preview" enabled? It is located in "Preferences > Jaspersoft Studio > Report Designer".

This date change crept in there while I was away from JSS! I was committing, came back to JSS and boom. Changed again.

Update: When I commit my files using Git, JSS detects that something has touched the file and modifies the file with the timestamp of the commit. In the background!

 

Relevant setting: I do have the "Refresh using native hooks or polling" on.

Hi I tried with both Git and SVN.

I was not able to reproduce. I also tried enabling the options you mentioned. No luck.

Can you please register a screencast ?

Strange new symptom here: without me changing anything, it not only added the date difference, it also added an xml tag change...

Well, I see you are not using the internal plugins for doing such a task.

So there is a probably a notification that leads to the reload of the file. I will investigate how to fix.

In the meanwhile, try to use the internal plugins and see if the problems is raised too.

Hi! Could you please add this option? This issue is incredibly annoying. These date comments do not have much sense if VCS is used.

Additionally, the `.jasper` file when re-built from JRXML that hasn't changed itself changes (probably because of the date). Replicate:

 

1. Create a new report (JRXML file).

2. Save the report.

3. Build the report.

4. Check in the JRXML and JASPER file to the repository.

5. Delete the .jasper file.

6. Build the report.

 

The .jasper file should be exactly the same as the .jasper file that was previously built.

 

But they aren't. The only change has been the timestamp, which likely causes a different .jasper binary to be produced every time.

 

The user is forced to either revert the change or check in the change (for both .jrxml and .jasper) to the repository, even though no changes to the .jrxml have been made.

The date comments never made any sense: modern file systems have had a perfectly fine date and timestamp added to every file by default. Some of them also have a modified timestamp separate from a create timestamp. ;-)

Can we expect any progres on this issue? It is quite a nuisance.

I double checked the handling of the property "Add timestamp information when saving the JRXML file" (visible in the compatibility Preference page). Now default is false + code using it uses false as well when the boolean property can not be read.Regards,Massimo.
