  • dataadapter hangs to hive2

    When connecting to this hive2 server, the dataAdapter wizard seems to encounter a problem and never return. The full problem is that the UI becomes unusable because I'm unable to cancel the connection attempt and cancel the wizard. I must shut-down/restart JSS.

     

    Repro:

    Try to create a new hive data adapter. Use this URL:

    jdbc:hive2://qa-hadoop-master.eng.jaspersoft.com:10001/default

     

    No messages in the .metadata\.log

    Try removing the '/default' at the end of your URL. You may also want to try anonymous authentication by adding 'auth=noSasl' to your Hive2 URL? In your case, the URL would read 'jdbc:hive2://qa-hadoop-master.eng.jaspersoft.com:10001/;auth=noSasl'

    For clarification, this issue is about JSS gracefully handling this type of situation in which this hive2 connection never returns. In this case, even presently that server is not being responsive - even via beeline command-line... it just hangs and never returns.

     

    So the "cancel" button should cancel the connection attempt and we should be able to close that dialog/wizard.

    Put back in suspended until we get more info by the Connectors team. The solution we put in place can not cover all cases. We need something more precise at lower level.Regards,Massimo.

    Closing since in JSS we already put in place all the possible solution in order to stop the connection. For other improvements you should ping the Connector team and open enhancement request to them.Please verify if it is working fine in latest available builds.

    Sorry, but we no longer support the HIVE data adapter in the CE version. The dedicated plug-in has been deprecated after 6.2.0 and no longer shipped in the final version.If you are using a PRO version data adapter please refer to the support that will proceed in opening a dedicated ticket. If you are using some other solution (i.e trying JDBC one) please open a different ticket.Regards,Massimo.
