    After install either the tarball or Debian package, the user needs to setup execution permissions on the bin directory for the embed JVM, otherwise the application cannot be run.

    This is solved after installation by running:

    $ sudo chmod 755 /opt/jaspersoft/jaspersoftstudiopro-5.5.0.final/features/jre.linux.gtk.x86_64.feature_1.7.0.u25/jre/bin/*

    For the packaging you can fix permissions either by using postinst file or inside debian/rules.

    Hi,this problem has been already fixed at the beginning of December. We modified the post install script: aggregator/ant-scripts/packageDistributions.xml REV 3601.However, thanks for opening the issue.Best regards,Massimo.P.S: you can check the beta release for a fixed version https://sourceforge.net/projects/jasperstudio/files/beta-release/
