Expression Editor Does Not Open

Hi, I'm not able to reproduce the bug, tested with 6.5.1 community release. Can you share your log? it is in your workspace/.metadata/.log Also from the preferences of studio enable the internal console from Jaspersoft Studio -> Global Setting -> Enable JSS internal console and restart. Now open the console view and from here you can see errors when they happen, so look if after pressing the expression button something appear. Since eclipse keep more console stream in its console view to see the studio exception you may have to switch console, this is done by pressing the top right corner button in the console view.

I did upload the .log file - see attachment.

 

In looking at the .log file, I did see an entry with this message:

net.sf.jasperreports.engine.JRRuntimeException: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: test.customFunctions.MyCustomFunctions cannot be found by net.sf.jasperreports_7.1.0.final

 

With seeing that, I did delete from the jasperreports_extension.properties files any reference to the custom functions as I may have initially looked into using them but decided not to. After restarting Jaspersoft Studio, I was able to open the Expression Editor. Having edited the jasperreports_extension.properties, is there any concern with the entry in the .log file stating "!MESSAGE Extension resource file:/I:/My%20Documents/JaspersoftWorkspace/MyReports/src/jasperreports_extension.properties was found to be a duplicate of file:/I:/My Documents/JaspersoftWorkspace/MyReports/bin/jasperreports_extension.properties"

 

Also, the console did not display any error messages.

Hi, now the error is catched and a more informative message is logged when this happen and the expression dialog opens correctly. You should be able also in console enabling the JSS internal console. M
