Summary:
Problem with Default and USERDEFAULT printer in UNIX env We use X terminal clients on one Linux server. Default printer for system is PRINTER1. You can change default printer per user by settting environment variable PRINTER=PRINTER2. Neither JVM nor jasperreport accept this ENV variable.

Hi,
Why is that you cannot use the JRPrintServiceExporter and supply the name of the printer using an instance of the javax.print.attribute.standard.PrinterName class added to the print service attribute set.
Look at the provided "printservice" sample and see the two lines commented out. Those were for passing the name of the printer.
