Wrong character displayed in money field pattern

I have noticed that in all reports created - a wrong character '¤' generated in XML pattern expression:

instead of:

I understand this may be a placeholder character for currency character since it may be Euro, etc.

It's displayed correctly as dollar sign in PDF report generated - Example: $ 28.17

However generated Excel report shows as ¤ 28.17

Since my reports are used domestically in US - I had to manually replace that character with dollar sign in XML.
