populate blank report in dashboard from populated report in dashboard

Hey guys, i have looked at a bunch of examples and ran a bunch of samples and i can't seem to find anything that works the way i would think would be quite logical for a dashboard..  I have a main panel on my dashboard that has a stacked bar chart to which i have added a hyperlink to a pie chart report that gives more detailed information about the results.. (this is problem 1, i have done something wrong that only ever passes the last data listed in the legend regardless of which bar i click on, i added parameters to the hyperlink in the measure part of the chart properties)..  At any rate i have both reports actually working even though it passes the wrong data at present but i am sure that is an easy fix and i have done something simple wrong.  The more difficult thing that i can't seem to get working is to simply populte the pie chart report panel on the same dashboard when i click the stacked bar... i have tried all the hyperlink properties (Self, Parent, Blank, Top) to see what they do and they all seem to pop out of the dashboard and open the other report but now my main report is no longer visible.. What i really need is the main report to stay visible and a small pie chart to populate on the right hand of the dashboard with the info that has been passed.  Believe me, i have beat this to death before resorting to asking for some help but i think this is something i won't solve myself in a timely manner.  I am using Jaspersoft Studio Professional and JasperServer 6.1.0 Professional.  Any chance someone can help me get this into shape?

I would be happy to post any pics necessary for help

Cheers

Perhaps i am barking up the wrong tree and this can't be done in Jasper Studio meaning i would have to redo it in JasperServer perhaps?

As an updfate i had not used the bucket properties properly and now that i have the report opens with the correct information depending on which bar in the stacked chart i clicked.... small win however i really need to be able to get it to stop opening to Self.. i have it set to that for testing since i can't get it to work by populating to diff panel on the dashboard..

So it looks like my assumption was correct and this can only be done by creating a dashlet and using that hyperlink functionality, so now the problem is a dashlet is not versatile enough for what i need to display... So i guess it's more simple now, is there a hack that can allow me that type of hyperlink functionality from a jrxml created in jasper studio?  The quesry functionality for a dashlet seems to be not so good, really i need to write my own but that doesn't seem possible for a dashlet, or is it?
