Difference between Adhoc View Crosstab and OLAP

What is the advantage of using JasperReports Server OLAP over using Adhoc View Crosstab? They both seems to offer drill down reports.

OLAP now requires an additional license and I'm wondering if this is worth it.

According to Jaspersoft Support, there doesn't seem to be much difference except that OLAP uses mdx as a datasource.
