"When No Data Type" = "Null" or "No Pages" not working on JRS

When "When No Data Type" is set to "Null" or "No Pages", Jaspersoft Studio return a null pointer error or "empty document".

However, when the report is upload to JasperReports Server, it returrn an empty report as if "When No Data Type" is set to "Blank Page".

Is there any way to get JasperReports Server to return an error message when there is no data?

Sorry to revive an old post, but were you able to find a solution to this problem? I'm having the same issue using 5.5.0. What version were you on when you experienced this problem?

We decided to go with using REST APIs instead of using repott URLs.
