does 5.6 ad hoc recognize boolean?

This question seems silly, but asking as I cannot get the ad hoc editor to recognize a boolean value either as a filter or used in an IF statement in a calculated measure. The source is a topic using a jrxml file that calls to a stored procedure.

  1. Checked (double & triple) the field type is right in iReport and dataset is returning true/false.
  2. Calculated measure expression editor accepts the field as boolean.
  3. Tried a simple filter that recognizes it is a boolean, but applying either true/false has no effect at all.

Have been through docs and this site. Perhaps I've done something wrong, but I feel pretty confident about working with boolean values. The thing I want to do is a bit more complex, but have scaled it back to the most basic form to simply prove boolean processing.

Suggestions?
