Use Jaspersoft Studio properties and functions outside it

I've designed a report using Jaspersoft Studio but I now want to use it in a different environment. When I'm compiling the jrxml file through the JasperCompileManager.compileReportToStream(InputStream arg0, ByteArrayOutputStream arg1) I get an Exception while parsing that says " Invalid content was found starting with element 'property'" and that I should be using some of several properties defined at "http://jasperreports.sourceforge.net/jasperreports" and if I remove those tags I've a similar message with built in functions such as DATEFORMAT

Is there any way to add Jasper Studio properties and function to be used outside of the Studio?
