How to execute "Select * From AM_Asset Where Cost=36000" query,i tried it using Parameters but it is useless its not filtering the data.

I want to display Assets which are having Cost=36000, AM_Asset is the Table Name,"Select * from AM_Asset Where Cost=36000" this is the query, when i run it in ireport its not filtering any data.please explain how to solve and how to use parameters in different situations.

the sql seems right,when you use parameters "select * from AM_Asset where Cost = $P{Cost}"
