Extra blank page on report if detail includes floating text fields that can stretch with overflow

iReport 4.5.1

I have a fairly simple report - just images, text and some static text.

If I print 1 page or 60 pages, all prints ok, 1 page per record, but I always get 1 extra, blank page. Note none of my pages overflow the detail to the next page.

The only way I could get rid of the blank page was to remove the stretch with overflow from all the fields. As soon as I ticked it for one field, I got the extra page.

Is this normal and unavoidable? Or is there something wrong in the calculation for the detail band length?

Is there anything I can do to allow my fields to stretch but not get the empty page?

Yet nobody seems capable of answering this...
